Participants, especially the elderly, reported speedy recovery from their depression and improvements in their body movement and reduction of their stress. A medical Doctor who knew these people endorsed our project. This is a quote of his endorsement:
“To Whom it may concern
Re Skills for LifeThis is written in support of Skills for Life’s work. I have known the organization and its leader, Moses Ekebuisi. I have long been aware of their music workshops in African drumming and have seen them in action in community.
I have no hesitation in recommending their workshops in therapeutic drumming as an additional or sole therapeutic resource for patients who have a diversity of physical and mental ailments. In addition to international evidence of benefit, they researched and verified the value of their work and some of those who have given testimonials to this are personally known to me.
I hope that you will find time to discuss the possibilities of this form of treatment with them.”
In addition to improving health, our project improves the well-being of participants, enabling them to effectively handle other activities they were unable to handle before.
For example: A goal keeper testified that after taking part in the drumming workshop before playing football, he felt so relaxed and fit that he played better. This lead to their team winning a game for the first time. His team advised him to play African drums before every game.
Another participant testified that after taking part in the drumming workshop, that his concentration was so boosted that he never makes mistake in his daily life which he used to make before taking part in the drumming.
